WR to run four Special Local Trains on 31st December new year

To clear extra rush of passengers Western Railway will run four special local trains o­n 31st December, 2012 midnight two from Churchgate to Virar and two from Virar to Churchgate.

Churchgate –Virar locals will leave from Churchgate at 1.45 hrs and 3.15 hrs o­n 31st December, 2012 midnight and reach Virar at 3.28 hrs and 4.55 hrs respectively. Similarly Virar- Churchgate locals will leave from Virar at 0.40 hrs and 2.00 hrs o­n 31st December, 2012 midnight and reach Churchgate at 2.20 hrs. and 3.40 hrs respectively. All four locals will be of 12 car and halt at all stations.

SAMBALPUR-KORAPUT PASSENGER

Due to poor patronization and requirement of stock for Maha Kumbh Mela at Allahabad, it has been decided to cancel the services of 58301/58302 Sambalpur-Rayagada-Koraput-Sambalpur Passenger w.e.f. 26th December from Sambalpur and w.e.f. 27th December 2012 from Koraput till further orders. 

Puri-Sai Nagar Shirdi special train extended

Due to heavy rush in regular trains and to provide safe journey to passengers, the Railway authorities have decided to extend the services of Puri-Sai Nagar Shirdi-Puri Special Train upto February 22, 2013.

Services of Puri-Sai Nagar Shirdi-Puri Special train will be extended upto February 22, 2013 from Puri and February 24, 2013 from Sai Nagar Shirdi.

Puri-Sai Nagar Shirdi-Puri Special is leaving Puri every Friday at 19.45hrs and arriving at Sai Nagar Shirdi at 23.00hrs on Saturdays.

In the return direction, Sai Nagar Shirdi-Puri Special train is leaving Sai Nagar Shirdi at 02.30hrs every Sunday and arriving at Puri at 09.10hrs on Mondays.

It has stoppages at Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal, Talcher Road, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh Road, Balangir, Titlagarh, Kantabanji, Raipur, Durg, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Bhusaval, Manmad and Kopargaon between Puri and Sai Nagar Shirdi.

This train has One AC-2 tier, Two AC-3 tier, nine Sleeper Class, 6 General Second Class, two Guard cum Luggage Vans and One Pantry Car.

TWO NEW TRAINS FROM VISAKHAPATNAM no 22869, no 22801

Weekly super fast trains towards Chennai Central & Sai Nagar Shirdi from Visakhapatnam w.e.f. from 15th December 2012.

 On the inaugural run, i.e. o­n 15th December 2012 Visakhapatnam-Chennai Central and Visakhapatnam-Sai Nagar Shirdi weekly super fast trains will be inaugurated from Visakhapatnam Station and will run as special trains o­n open fast timings. However, the regular service of Visakhapatnam-Chennai Central weekly super fast express will commence from 17th December and Visakhapatnam-Sai Nagar Shirdi weekly super fast trains will commence from 20th December 2012.

22869 Visakhapatnam-Chennai Central weekly Super Fast Express will leave Visakhapatnam at 19.20hrs on every Monday w.e.f. 17th December 2012 and will arrive at Chennai Central at 08.55hrs o­n the next days. In the return direction, 22870 Chennai Central-Visakhapatnam weekly Super Fast Express will leave Chennai Central at 21.10hrs on every Tuesday w.e.f. 18th December 2012 and will arrive at Visakhapatnam at 10.25hrs o­n every Wednesday.

China now launches world long bullet train service

China launched the world's longest high-speed rail route on Wednesday, the latest milestone in the country's rapid and - sometimes troubled - super fast rail network.

 

The opening of the new 2,298-kilometre (1,425-mile) line between Beijing and Guangzhou means passengers will be whisked from the capital to the southern commercial hub in just eight hours, compared with the 22 hours previously required.

 

Trains will travel at an average speed of 300 kilometres per hour over the line, which includes 35 stops in major cities such as Zhengzhou, Wuhan on the Yangtze River and Changsha.

Temporary halts for some long distance trains

Railways have decided to give temporary halts at Urali station to some long distance trains either originating/terminating or plying via Pune station for the benefit of the pilgrims visiting Prayag Dham Trust, Urali, for the annual festival of Makar Sankranti.

one additional second class general unreserved compartment will also be attached to 1077 Pune-Jammutawi Jhelum Express for three days from January 14, 2013 to clear extra rush of pilgrims taking part in the festival at the Prayag Dham Trust.

The Up and Down Goa Express shall have stoppages at Urali station for two minutes from December 27 to January 17 next year.

 

The Up and Down Solapur-Pune Intercity Express shall have two minutes halt at Urali station from January 10 to 15.

The Nagarcoil-CSTM Express shall have two minutes of halt at Urali station on January 13 and 14.

the Up and Down Bangalore-Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Udyan Express too shall have stoppage at that station for two minutes from January 10 to 18.  

The Up and Down Nizamuddin-Kolhapur Express shall have two minutes halt at Urali station on January 11 and 15.

The Howrah bound Azad Hind Express shall have two minutes halt at Uruli station on January 14 and 15.

Similarly the Pune-bound Azad Hind Express too shall have two minutes of halt at that station on January 11 and 12.

Train rate – Increase in price of all railway Foods - last week

There is partial increase in catering tariffs brought about by the Railways last week, non-vegetarian meals will now cost Rs. 50 per person (priced Rs. 35 earlier), while vegetarian meals will cost Rs. 45, as  against the earlier price of Rs. 30.

Other rate hike of food include following: Rs. 25 for a vegetarian breakfast, as against the earlier rate of Rs. 17, and the upward revision of non-vegetarian breakfast from Rs. 20 to Rs. 30.
The rate of the ‘janata meal’ has been revised from Rs. 10 to Rs. 15, while tea and coffee will now cost Rs. 3 and Rs. 7 (earlier priced at Rs. 3 and Rs. 5 respectively).

Today Western Railway to run 1st power-saving train

Western Railway (WR) will run its first pure Alternating Current (AC) train on Christmas day.

Expected to save electricity, the train, which was manufactured by Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, has one major difference from the earlier trains. Unlike suburban trains in which the electric motors are in the second, fifth, eighth and eleventh coaches, this new AC train will have these motors in the first, fifth, eighth and twelfth coaches.

This change in the location of the electric motors, however, means that the first coach, which is a women’s compartment will get divided into two because of the motor being placed in between.

Western Railway has decided to extend the run of 09561/09562 Bandra Tr. –Okha –Bandra Tr. weekly special train up to 31st Jan' 2013. Train no 09561 Bandra Tr – Okha weekly special train will now also run o­n 3rd, 10th , 17th 24th and 31st January, 2013. Similarly Train no 09562 Okha – Bandra Tr. special train will now also run o­n 1st, 8th , 15th , 22nd and 29th Jan, 2013.

Train no 09561 Bandra Tr – Okha weekly special train departs from Bandra Tr. at 00.15hrs hrs o­n every Thursday and reaches Okha at 21.20hrs o­n same day .

Hubli station now to get multifunctional complex

A multifunctional complex will soon come up at the Hubli railway station with the area marked for the complex already handed over to the construction agencies. In addition, eight more stations have been identified for the construction of such complexes.

First ever - Delhi Metro to introduce 8 coach train

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will introduce the first ever eight coach train today. The induction of new coach will coincide with the 10th anniversary of completion of Delhi metro operations.

The eight coach trains can carry 600 more commuters than the 2,200 capacity of a six coach train.
Delhi Metro, which began operations with just 8 km on December 24, 2002, now has a network of 185 km and carries over 20 lakh passengers on an average day.

SCR special Express Train Btn Secunderabad and Tirupati (Bi-Weekly)

South Central Railway will introduce special Train No. 12770 / 12769 Secunderabad-Tirupati-Secunderabad bi-weekly Express Train between Secunderabad and Tirupti at 12 00 Noon  o­n 8th December, 2012 from Secunderabad Railway Station.
