First ever - Delhi Metro to introduce 8 coach train


Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will introduce the first ever eight coach train today. The induction of new coach will coincide with the 10th anniversary of completion of Delhi metro operations.

The eight coach trains can carry 600 more commuters than the 2,200 capacity of a six coach train.
Delhi Metro, which began operations with just 8 km on December 24, 2002, now has a network of 185 km and carries over 20 lakh passengers on an average day.

Nine Metro stations in Central Delhi will remain closed today in the wake of the protests that has continued near India Gate over the gangrape of a paramedic student,
